Lærdalstunnelen: Longest Tunnel On The Planet (Norway)

In western Norway, on the road between Oslo and Bergen, is the longest road tunnel on the ground.

The length of the tunnel is really impressive - 24.5 km. Not surprisingly, Lerdalsky is considered the longest tunnel in the world, his length exceeds the famous Gotthard tunnel with eight kilometers.

Construction works lasted for five years, started in 1995 and was completed in 2000, the tunnel passes through the mountains, reaching a height of 1600 meters.

The tunnel has three expansions, approximately equal distance, where drivers can pull out and rest. The design inside, like a cave, also contributes to a comfortable passage through the tunnel.

We note that in Lerdalskom permitted overtaking and passing is free of charge, which attracts many tourists.
